Bring
your
bird!

BHA members can bring their birds to meetings - a great socialization opportunity! (Note: Please do not bring a bird to your first meeting. Only members may bring birds they have owned at least 60 days that are in good health.)

Anyone is welcome! You just need an interest in birds, you don't have to have one. If you have birds, they don't have to be hookbills.

What's in it for you?

  • Education. Programs at monthly meetings on all aspects of bird keeping and care. Previous topics have included health and disease, behavior, breeding, grooming and toy making. We are always looking for new presenters and topics. Most topics are repeated once every year or two.
  • Information. A monthly newsletter (ten issues) containing meeting summaries and information, notes from previous educational programs, upcoming events, local resources and contacts, American Federation of Aviculture (AFA) club newsletter, photo page and more.
  • Assistance. Local resource networking: Avian veterinarians, bird supplies, species-specific assistance, bird breeder contacts, and information from club members. Where to go when you need help.
  • Fun events. Annual public events like the Bird and Reptile Fair, Parrot Conference, and other co-sponsored events bring national speakers and vendors to the Western New York area. Admission for BHA members is usually reduced or free, and there are many opportunities to participate in event organization, promotion and public education. We also have a summer picnic and a winter holiday party.
  • Research. Use of the club library for information and research. We regularly add books and popular periodicals by membership vote.
  • Save money. Discounts on bird and general pet supplies at many local stores.
